From pipedream to reality: discussing Digital Deposit Return Schemes and the world-first partnership

Over the last three months, Polytag partnered with Ocado Retail to test the viability of Digital Deposit Return Schemes by successfully applying over 1.6m “unique-every-time” QR codes to the online retailers’ packaging. In this talk, Alice Rackley, CEO, Polytag, and Laura Fernandez, Senior Packaging and Sustainability Manager, Ocado Retail, discuss the implications of the trial for DRS legislation, in light of the Government’s recently published response, the findings of the trial, and the opportunities the technology provides for brands and retailers. They will also discuss the significance of the trial in the context of EPR legislation, and the wider packaging circular economy.
