For many brands, the label release liner is often forgotten about, as there has been no sustainable alternative for so many years. Waste label liner has simply been sent to landfill or incinerated.
But now, there is an alternative…
Mercian Labels are delighted to have amongst the first in the UK to offer a closed loop label liner recycling service. A programme which offers our customers the opportunity to make a real impact on their business and environmental goals, from saving costs to reducing their carbon emissions.
And getting involved is so easy…
The first step is to get in touch with a member of our team to find out how the scheme works, and if it is something you think would benefit your business, we will ask you to sign a contract agreeing to the terms of the service requirements, and we are ready to go.
The next step is to collect all of your separated, clean, dry and uncontaminated liner (so no labels, no cores, no adhesives or any other material) and once your pallet is full of boxes, simply send it straight to us and we will take it from there.
Upon receipt, we’ll check the content of the boxes and the liner will be stored at our warehouse, before being sent to the paper mill for processing in their pulping plant, to create new release liner and paper. Which we might will use to produce your next set of labels, and so on.
For most users, this will actually cost less than your current liner disposal arrangements – and instead of going to landfill or incineration, you will be contributing properly to a fully environmentally friendly closed loop recycling system.
SOME IMPORTANT RULES TO REMEMBER:
• White glassine liner is accepted, as is PET liner. However, both types must be collected and shipped to us in separate boxes.
• All liner waste must be clean, dry and free from all contaminants, so no labels, no cores, no adhesives or any other material.
