Did you know that National Recycling Week 2018 is coming up, taking place between the 24th-30th September?

Organised by WRAP (The Waste and Resources Action Programme) the body responsible for the UK Plastics Pact, the aim of the week is to build awareness around recycling and to encourage a widespread change in recycling behaviours. The hope is that the events will encourage the general public and businesses to recycle more by demonstrating its benefits for our environment. The slogan for the campaign is ‘Recycling. We do. Because it matters.’ At YPS we have to agree.

Although Recycle Week has been running for 15 years, the focus this time is on the recycling of plastics in particular – and this is what has caught our attention here at YPS. As suppliers of plastic shrink wrap film, many tonnes of our product ends up in homes and businesses around the UK, as it is used to package a huge array of goods in a wide variety of industries. Despite common misconceptions, our entire range of shrink film, in both polythene and polyolefin specifications, is 100% recyclable. This means that widespread recycling of our plastic is a very real and achievable possibility. In conjunction with National Recycling Week, we’d like to take this opportunity to encourage our customers and the end-users to recycle our films as much as possible, to prevent them ending up in landfills.

Our customers may have noticed that this year’s Recycling Week coincides with our annual attendance at the PPMA packaging exhibition, located at the NEC in Birmingham (25th-27th September). In honour of this, our stand (A54) will host a dedicated shrink film station amongst our shrink wrapping machinery. Our shrink film experts will welcome discussions and questions concerning recycling, sustainability and bio-based film alternatives like our B-NAT. If you’ve got ‘green’ ambitions, we have the solution you need!
