Following a sharp increase in machinery sales over the past few years YPS needed to find a way to future proof against growing demand for our shrink wrappers. As we pride ourselves on offering the highest level of support in the industry we knew that we did not want to get to a point whereby we did not have enough engineers on site to be able to handle the growing number of machine installations, services and other engineering demands.

As a result we decided to invest heavily in our service department, firstly we introduced an apprenticeship scheme two years ago and this was when Jake came on board with YPS. Jake has been able to learn the ins and outs of how our shrink wrappers work in our workshop from our experienced team of engineers, on customer site visits and has also been attending Bradford College in order to further his knowledge and achieve industry recognised qualifications. This apprenticeship program has proven to be a real success and Jake has quickly picked up quality traits and is well on his way to becoming a highly skilled YPS service engineer. Due to this success we are now in the early stages of introducing a second apprentice engineer to our team to follow in Jakes footsteps!

In addition to this we then decided to increase our team of experienced service engineers when Vic joined YPS. He has over 25 years experience in the industry and is trained not only on the YPS range of equipment but also has a large number of years experience working with Shanklin machinery. This means that we are now also able to offer back up and support for Shanklin shrink wrap machines which is something which we were previously unable to offer. We now have six full time service engineers, and one, soon to be two, apprentice engineers.

With an ever growing team we also have expanded our workshop and onsite demonstration facilities. Our workshop has now doubled in size and in turn capacity has also doubled. We have also increased the size of our demonstration facilities in order to have a wider range of machines on show for customers who would like to run trials and see the equipment running before they commit to purchasing machinery from us.
