The UK’s Plastic Tax according to which manufacturers and importers of plastics packaging containing less than 30% recycled plastic content have to pay £200 per metric tonne where certain thresholds are met has been effective since 1 April 2022. This tax represents an obstacle for these manufacturers and importers who have to change the products they are used to to avoid it.
