Paramelt coatings help to reduce the environmental impact of packaging material.

In today’s context of the circular economy, not only the functionality of packaging, but also the environmental impact has to be considered. Sourcing and end-of-life scenarios for the packaging material have become decisive criteria. Paper as a renewable material, in combination with Paramelts coating products, can offer the required barrier and heat-seal functionality needed for many packaging applications.

Paraflex Nowax renewable vegetable-based coatings, can functionalize paper to yield equivalent barriers to polyethylene whilst remaining biodegradable. These coatings are applied like wax-coatings, and can be used in a wide range of packaging applications. They offer a solution for all ‘end of life’ scenarios, landfill, littering, recycling or composting.

Aquaseal waterbased polyolefin dispersions of extrusion-grade plastics, can be applied using conventional coating and printing techniques, and add barrier- and heat-seal functionality to paper. Contrary to extrusion coated paper, Aquaseal coated paper remains fully recyclable via existing waste streams using appropriate processes.

Next to these novel products, Paramelt also offers hot melt and water-based adhesives for various applications.
