At AVI, we design rigid packaging to improve food protection, product appeal and business sustainability. Our mission is to support collective action on plastic waste and carbon impact. We are proud to announce our annual sustainability impact figures for FY22-23, demonstrating our milestone achievement of recycling 218 million PET bottles and 4,368 metric tons of industrial waste. We have saved 5,591 metric tons of CO2 emissions and 5,242 metric tons of gasoline as a result.
To hit our new milestone, we undertook numerous measures such as developing new rPET packaging solutions, including sheets, punnets and trays, with up to 100% recycled content verified by global audit company Intertek. Our offerings are certified by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH), and the United States Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) to ensure verifiable compliance, quality and safety.
We are also proud that we have minimised plastic usage wherever possible through downgauging and redesigned packages to include the least amount of plastic material. The downgauged punnet designs help reduce the overall weight of the pack while lowering plastic tax liability with reduced virgin content.
Our approach to sustainability goes beyond recycling and reducing waste. At our manufacturing plant in Daman, we have improved our operational efficiencies through IoT-enabled preventative maintenance and condition monitoring and automated processing technologies. Our contribution to plastics circularity starts in-house with the recycling of all our processing waste to ensure closed-loop manufacturing.
