Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP)

Solidus’ Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP) trays offer a sustainable solid board alternative to traditional plastic packaging. MAP technology replaces the air inside a pack with a protective gas mix, extending the shelf life of fresh or processed meat, fish, fruit, cheese, salads and ready-made meals.

Made from FSC® certified, barrier-lined solid board from renewable fibres, our MAP trays use up to 90% less plastic than conventional options. The transparent sealing film can be easily separated from the board for recycling, supporting a circular and more sustainable packaging chain.

Our trays are fully compatible with existing MAP packaging machines, making it easy for brand owners and packers to switch from plastic to fibre-based packaging. With higher board grammages available, they provide strength and rigidity for heavier products while maintaining the same protective performance and shelf life as plastic trays.
