New platform transforms brands’ packaging with on-pack QR code campaigns

This platform allows brands of all sizes to modernise their packaging by incorporating QR codes that can be scanned at points of sale or by consumers seeking product information.

As the industry shifts towards Digital Product Passports, QR Squared facilitates this transition by offering a fully compliant, approved, and secure platform powered by GS1 standards. The process is designed to be user-friendly, involving a simple three-step method. Brands can include details such as expiry dates and serial numbers in their QR codes for batch-level inventory management. Additionally, they can customise, edit, and update landing pages for each project in real time, even after the product has been labelled.

The platform also provides an analytics dashboard that allows brands to track the performance of their on-pack codes. By owning the domain within the QR code URL, brands can monitor the time and location of consumer engagement, enabling them to optimise their marketing initiatives accordingly.
This development aligns with the broader industry trend of enhancing packaging with digital capabilities to improve consumer engagement and supply chain efficiency. For instance, Tetra Pak has collaborated with Appetite Creative and Advertising Design Studio to develop on-pack communication designed to educate consumers about sustainability through games and information accessed via QR codes.
Similarly, Think Tank has integrated physical packaging and digital back-end platforms into a single smart packaging service, aiming to help brands deliver additional content to consumers during peak shopping periods like Black Friday and Christmas.
