Significant investment boosts packaging capabilities

A Leeds-based flexible packaging manufacturer has committed over £3.2 million to expand its production capabilities. This investment follows substantial upgrades made in the previous year.

The funding has been allocated towards several advanced machines: a new Nordmeccanica laminator, installation of a Joker® bag machine planned for June, and a stand-up pouch conversion line from Karlville, expected later in the year. Additionally, a three-layer Optimex film extruder from Windmöller & Hölscher is scheduled to arrive in February 2026. This extruder will produce consistent, high-quality polyethylene film suited for both virgin and recycled content.

In support of this machinery, the company is also investing in peripheral equipment, including an automatic RFID bag labeller and a continuous sealer for film reels.

The expansion is strategically aimed at meeting growing demand within the food and drink sectors, as well as other fast-moving consumer goods markets. With over 245 staff currently employed, annual revenue is projected to surpass £53 million by the end of 2025, up from £44.6 million in 2022.

Ben Roberts, the firm’s Marketing Director, emphasised that staying ahead of the competition through investment underpins the business strategy, enabling the delivery of cost-effective, sustainable, and innovative packaging solutions.
