The packaging used in the paint and coatings industry does not vary too widely in shape and size. Sizes range from one pint to 2.5 gallons. Bulk-sized packaging used in the industry includes pails, drums, and IBC totes with sizes ranging from 1 gallon to 275 gallons. Plastic HDPE jugs and tinplate metal cans are the most common materials used for these types of packaging because of both materials’ trusted durability. Stock metal packaging is often available unlined but is also typically stocked with rust inhibitor or epoxy lining. Matching lids, dispensing systems, and other accessories such as seals are available based on the product needs.
