Billerud pushes fibre-based pharma packaging into new territory
Billerud is expanding the possibilities for fibre-based pharmaceutical packaging with PharmaKraft, a recyclable material designed for a range of dry medicine applications.
The material offers a paper-based alternative for non-sterile sachets, stick packs, strip packs and blister lidding, while aiming to meet the pharmaceutical sector’s strict requirements for quality, purity and reliability.
Made from fresh fibre with controlled purity characteristics, PharmaKraft is designed to reduce reliance on fossil-based materials. It also offers end-of-life recyclability and full traceability to support qualification and validation processes.
The development adds to Billerud’s existing healthcare packaging portfolio, opening up further opportunities for converters and brands to explore fibre-based alternatives for pharmaceutical products.
