Supply chain stage session:

Packaging Sustainability – Why it matters to you

Packaging sustainability is a buzzword across the industry with good reason. The packaging industry has come from a period of over-engineering packaging to protect items which often involved using solely virgin materials during production. Over the past couple of years, consumers have demanded people remove plastics to reduce the impact of microplastics in our oceans, causing increased demand for paper-based packaging.

With an increasing demand for paper-based packaging, we are in danger of causing a greater environmental crisis due to deforestation and greater energy usage. True sustainability comes from awareness of the production inputs, recycled content, recyclability, and carbon emissions of any item we choose to use. In this presentation, we will discuss strategies you can use to understand the sustainability of your products and how to identify greenwashing in your packaging.
