About us

Masterpack S.p.A. is a packaging converting company founded by Claudio Binda in 1988. Currently, the company has two production sites: one in Monvalle (Varese), which houses the historic headquarter with its Administrative Offices and Innovation Hub; the other in Gattico-Veruno (Novara), where the Commercial Headquarter and Head Office are located.
A pioneer in plant technology, Masterpack was the first Italian company to purchase and introduce the pre-zipper machine in Europe, distinguishing itself in the market not only for supplying traditional flexible packaging or commodity packaging, but also for its highly innovative and technological environmental-friendly solutions, such as the creation of “open/close” systems with controlled delamination, easy opening, and degassing valves directly patented for the coffee and microwave sectors.
The real added value of Masterpack lies in the skills of its people, which today have enabled the company to staff important offices such as Research and Development, Graphics, Quality Laboratory, Sales, and Post Sales.
We have been able to meet, and in some cases anticipate, customer expectations thanks to the creation of innovative, functional, and high-performance packaging, and we stand out for the high print quality achieved through flexographic technology.
For years, the company has been on a path toward sustainability, obtaining important certifications, including: BRC since 2006; FSC since 2018; ISCC Plus since 2021.
In the growth path of Masterpack, certifications are also included, representing an important guarantee for stakeholders and demonstrating the company's commitment and responsibility to continuously improve its processes and ensure compliance with standards. Furthermore, they provide a technical, objective, standardised, transparent, and international reference framework, helping to ensure that the statements made about their skills are real, objective, and verifiable.
In particular, Masterpack is certified UNI EN ISO 9001 (since 2003), BRCGS (since 2006), UNI EN 15593 (since 2006), UNI EN ISO 14001 (since 2007), Sedex (Member n° 76150, since 2015), FSC (since 2018), and ISCC PLUS (since 2021 – Masterpack was among the first converter companies in Italy to obtain this voluntary certification). Additionally, in 2024, Masterpack obtained the voluntary ISO 14067 certification (Product Carbon Footprint) on four selected and marketed products, providing the end customer with quantitative and tangible indications regarding the CO2 emissions of the purchased product. Also in the same year, Masterpack embarked on an ambitious path to obtain the voluntary certification of the ISO 14064 standard (Organisational Carbon Footprint), effectively quantifying, reporting, and verifying greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and removals at the organisational level. For 2026, the extension of ISO 14067 certification, through a systemic approach, to all products marketed by Masterpack is planned.

In the last three years, Masterpack has significantly increased its presence both in the domestic and international markets, thanks to the continuous sales network and the marketing of its high value-added products. Today, Masterpack is mainly represented by the food sector, but has recently also entered other markets and sectors different from its core business. A small part is, in fact, represented by the nutraceutical, pet food, industrial, and chemicals sectors.
In particular, the most popular and appreciated products are those belonging to the “specialty” segment, consisting of highly innovative and technological solutions. For example, in the food sector, these include fully paper-based and heat-sealable materials, mainly intended for dry products, high-barrier mono-material solutions, fully recyclable, with an integrated “open and close” system (called “Master Peel&Reseal”), intended for fresh and perishable products, as well as mono-materials with micro-perforations and patented “label valve”, pre-applied on reels, designed for products that require direct microwave cooking and for the coffee sector. All materials developed that offer an advantage in terms of sorting and end-of-life, as well as from an environmental and product sustainability perspective, such as compostable solutions (both home and industrial compostable) and all materials that come from and contain an “alternative” and sustainable source, are also highly involved and appreciated. For example, materials with post-consumer recycled content and materials obtained from “bio” sources (e.g., used cooking oils).

In January 2025, Masterpack acquired the Canadian company PC Packaging & Design Inc., an important packaging converting company located in the province of Quebec, Canada. The ambitious goal is to export, overseas, Made in Italy technology with specialty products designed specifically to meet the needs of the Canadian and North American markets in general.
