bpost launches packaging and label-free shipping pilot in Belgium

To use this service, customers create a digital shipping label via the My bpost app, generating a barcode. They scan this barcode with their smartphone to open a Parcel locker, place the unwrapped item (up to 48 x 32 x 20 cm) inside, and monitor its progress using Track & Trace. The item is then delivered to a Parcel locker chosen by the recipient or nearest to their address. Recipients receive a notification via the My bpost app or email when their item is ready for collection, accessible using their smartphone.

This initiative aims to enhance customer convenience by eliminating the need for packaging materials and label printing. It also aligns with the growing interest in the circular economy and the popularity of second-hand marketplaces like Vinted. Additionally, this packaging-free shipping option is the most affordable in bpost’s offerings, with delivery of items up to two kilograms costing €3.99.
