BCMPA highlights the growing role of outsourcing at Packaging Innovations & Empack 2026
The latest edition of Packaging Innovations & Empack placed a strong spotlight on the expanding influence of outsourcing within the UK packaging supply chain. Insights from the BCMPA, the Association for Contract Manufacturing, Packing, Fulfilment & Logistics, emphasised how outsourcing partners are becoming increasingly vital for brands navigating complex production, fulfilment and supply-chain challenges.
This year’s event underscored the entrepreneurial energy emerging across the sector. Many start-ups attending the co-located Contract Pack & Fulfilment Show were actively exploring third‑party partnerships to support scaling, market entry and operational efficiency.
A key feature of the show was the inaugural Pitch the Co‑Packers Final, hosted on the Supply Chain Stage. The competition showcased how contract packing, manufacturing and fulfilment specialists help early‑stage brands develop packaging formats, streamline logistics and accelerate their go‑to‑market plans. Renata Sá, founder of HANGOV, was announced as the winner for presenting a compelling growth journey and demonstrating how third‑party expertise can transform a brand’s operational capabilities.
According to BCMPA CEO Emma Verkaik, this year’s event reinforced the essential role that outsourcing partners play for businesses of every size. She highlighted that even the most innovative packaging designs rely on strong supply‑chain execution — and outsourcing enables brands to operate safely, efficiently and competitively. Verkaik also noted the enthusiasm and ambition of the shortlisted finalists, praising the quality of innovation on display.
The association was further represented in the Future Trailblazer Awards, where Verkaik served as a judge. This year’s award went to Dhruvi Thakkar of Sleeve Office, reflecting the industry’s ongoing commitment to supporting emerging leaders across packaging and manufacturing.
Packaging Innovations & Empack 2026 recorded 8,021 unique visitors – an 8% rise compared with the previous year – alongside more than 500 exhibitors. This growth highlights the increasing importance of the event to brands, solution providers and supply‑chain specialists alike.
Despite uncertainty surrounding packaging regulation, including the future implementation of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), demand for outsourcing remains strong. The show demonstrated that contract manufacturers and fulfilment providers continue to innovate, offering agile, expert support in a shifting market.
